Well the Resident Evil Showcase has been and gone, and all I can say is \u201cWoW\u201d. I think most of us that tuned in were there for one reason, Resident Evil: Village. Capcom revealed key insights regarding the eagerly anticipated survival horror sequel, chief among them, that, yes, it is a continuation of Ethan\u2019s story. But while it is picking up from where we left off in RESIDENT EVIL: 7, RESIDENT EVIL: Village is trading in the relatively small location of a derelict plantation in Louisiana to the more grandiose setting of Castle Dimitrescu.\"RE<\/a><\/p>\n

It seems that Capcom have taken all the best parts of Resident Evil 1,4 and 7 and mashed them together to create RESIDENT EVIL: Village. There is the requisite shuffling horde from 1, the cavalcade of unique villains with distinct combat styles from 7 and finally, after years of nothing, a ridiculously eccentric NPC merchant named \u201cThe Duke\u201d. Utilizing materials found all through the game, \u201cThe Duke\u201d will be able to craft essential consumables essential to Ethan\u2019s survival. The space management system is also making a return, which in tandem with the \u201cThe Duke\u201d will make for some interesting strategic gameplay.\"RE<\/a><\/p>\n

Capcom confirmed Resident Evil: Village will hit store shelves on May 7th<\/sup> 2021, available on all platforms, well, except the Nintendo Switch, but let\u2019s face it, that\u2019s a blessing. Because if RESIDENT EVIL: Village turns out to be as shit you pants scary as its predecessor, I\u2019d likely hurl my switch across the room if that lady with giant hat came lunging at me.\"RE<\/a><\/p>\n

There\u2019s also good news for those of us who haven\u2019t been able to get a PlayStation 5 as Resident Evil Village will be eligible to upgrade from PlayStation 4 to the digital PlayStation 5 version. Meaning even if we can\u2019t enjoy it at peak performance now, we can always get a better version when we do upgrade. Xbox fans are also covered as RESIDENT EVIL: Village will support Smart Delivery for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.\"RE<\/a><\/p>\n

And if you are one of the lucky bastards who manage to get their hands on a PlayStation 5, then you can play the Resident Evil: Village demo, dubbed \u201cThe Maiden demo\u201d. You will get the chance to explore some of RESIDENT EVIL: Village\u2019s location, the spooky Castle Dimitrescu. But for those of us without, we will have to make do with rewatching the trailer until May 7th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
